Just spoke with Mike on the phone. They are at DMV making a donation to the State of Florida for temporary tags for the ride back to AZ.

Weather sucks here as it is raining heavy at times. Looks like John may be delayed leaving Florida. We had hoped to meet up for a ride today but the weather has ruled that out. We have other plans for tomorrow so that is out also.Hope to talk to John on phone at least before he departs Fla.

I was in N'awlins during that time frame yesterday. Did you see me waving at the plane? Must have been a Lucky Dog you had.

3/12/2010 1:15:04 PM            A wonderful day

This has been a fantastic day with Mike Herrmann as my tour guide. (OnaWingandaPrayer)

Yes it rained, and then it poured, then it flooded

But, what I received made the trip even more enjoyable than if we had be out on the bikes riding the roads.

Mike took the two of us around his home town and surrounding areas, back road by side road. As we passed each building he told me of the history of each, how he had played in that yard, how he had gone to school with one of the Bellamy brothers in 5th grade.

I saw the Credit Union that his grandfather helped to form, his grandfather’s picture is on the wall in the lobby as one of the founding fathers.  I forgot the camera on that half of the trip, I should go back there and make it a point to take pictures of that place, but……….. it is raining again.

There is a nice little restaurant in San Antonio (Mike’s home town) that appears to be just a beer hall, outward appearance is a bit tired, but what a place to eat.  I had the daily special for today, BBQ ribs, pork ‘n beans with homemade potato w/salad with cole slaw.  It went down sooooooooo smooth, that “upset stomach” is not even a possibility.  It was one of those meals whereby when you leave, you just feel comfortable, not over stuffed, but pleasantly full.

Mike just dropped me off at the hotel, he needs to get back home to a prior appointment this afternoon, and I had to admit that with the shortage of sleep yesterday (high adrenlin?) that a nappie poo does kind of sound good right now.

So, only got one good picture, but it is a good one, at least I think so.
You can see the ornaments on the top of the gate crossing.  Neat they are.

So, with that, I am sign off for a while and catch some Zssssssss.

That's me there, making history "for me", that is....

John,

Don't they have a leash law there?  It looks like Spot is running all over the parking lot.:cheeky1::cheeky1::cheeky1::cheeky1::cheeky1:

Puckering up my lips, I had to whistle 5 times to get Spot to come crawling back to me with his tail tucked between his hind legs :tongue::tongue::tongue::tongue:

What I did was to put Spot in the trunk on top of a box, I tried to position it so it could see between the Trunk Rack grids.   But, I think that must have skewed the way it was seeing the GPS signals.   I will have to repeat that little exercise again when I can do it without being worried about it being stolen for the two hours time span it sat there.

The parking lot was a Cracker Barrel, it was full with a waiting line.  So, Spot got to go sniff out the other canines and chase the field mice for a while before I had to rein him back in.

Tomorrow, Spot is going to kenneled up in the Pillion seat on top of the duffle bag. That ought to lease him in right proper. :whip:

Leaving here at 0600, the weather is turning out blue skies and no clouds as of right now.      :applause:

So, Spot will get a chance to sniff the ground a few minutes while I tie down the duffle bags and suit up my own self.

went shopping tonight after those clouds ran off to the east of me.   Found an Advance Automotive Store, and low and behold they stock  Bungy Cords, the wide flat ones, the medium flat ones, the super thick 1/2 inch round ones and an assortment of the 1/4" size.

Then while walking down the aisle I spotted one of those Master Lock motorcycle cables that has the cable sheathed in a nylon (or something) outer coating with a cable slide lock on it.  Got that.

Intended to get some Sea Foam, but that will have to wait until in the morning.... sigh! Could have been done already while I am just goofing off tonight. Ah well, no harm done.

I have to comment, that spending 2 whole days with a friend one-on-one has a lot of real value.   You learn things about each other, and you really cement a wonderful friendship that will stand the test of time.  2 years or 2 months, it won't matter, it will be just like we never left each other the next time we meet.

Tomorrow's Schedule is this.

1)  Leave Wesley Chapel "home base" at 0600
2)  Arrive in Mexico Beach,  FL  approx 6 hours later give or take a fuel stop.

3)  Mark, Xtracho is meeting me at Mexico Beach and I'm staying over the night.  Or the next night, or the next ..........:?

4) Right now, I'm working on getting Xtracho to run up to Hardies Restaurant on Sunday and meet up with Jimsjinx and the crowed from his neighborhood.   So, Jim, here is your heads up.  Look to meet up with us Sunday late morning to noonish.  We will all give each other a call to plan it out.

I'd call that a plan.    wouldn't you???
