:waving::waving:  Welcome to the World's Greatest Goldwing Site sparkie321us!  :waving::waving:

The Interstate is the more stripped down model than the Aspencade. The Interstate doesn't have the on board air compressor to adjust the air ride, you use a hand pump to adjust them. A small bicycle pump works well for that. The easiest and least expensive way to add CB is to mount a handheld walkie talkie type CB on the bike and connect it to the bike's audio/intercom system. That way you can install headsets in your helmet. 33,000 miles is pretty low for a 'Wing, they are very long lived motorcycles and many of them go over two hundred thousand miles with few repairs.
The main thing to look for on a used 'Wing is one that's in good running condition and has all it's plastics in good shape. Unless you're ready to do major repair work stay away from 'fixer uppers'. They can be fixed but the time and money needed can be a killer. Craigslist and eBay can give you a good idea of what different models should be worth. If you go to Search Tempest website you can search large areas of the country at one shot on Craigslist.

Probaby the two biggest issue with the 1200 model is the stator and its connections. There are numerous articles on prevention and cures if you do a forum search.

The other item is timing belt on any goldwing except a very new low mileage one. They're cheap and not too difficult to change but create a very expensive mess if you neglect them.

+1 for what exavid said about fixer uppers. Plastic parts are pricey and chrome expensive to replate as well.

I think the only way you can restore a bike without going broke is to wheel and deal in parts. Buy a doner bike (and another and another and another) and strip what you need off of it (Them) and then part the rest out. Have a big garage.

I don't know what kind of money you are working with. But now is the time to buy a bike and if what you want is a 1200 Interstate iv'e seen plenty of them . Like Exavid said look on Craigs list and E-Bay there are plentyfull right now at a decent price http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/mcy/1584079549.html
This is a nice bike for someone . I'd like to buy it just for the heck of it . I would if I had somewhere to put it

From getting burnt once on a Gold Wing, the phrase you want to avoid going any further with buying any motorcycle is "Needs a little TLC"  that should make you go to the next ad....Why buy an older bike as in an 84 or 85 when one of our members has his 1500 up for sale...Now this Gold Wing just needs a rider, well maintained, and a beautiful machine to boot.....Here is the thread in the for sale wanted forum.....Now this is a steal......

Not trying to :X any 1200 owners, but these bikes are getting harder and harder to find parts for...and rebuilding one could end up costing more than buying a newer one..  If you have the time and money, go for it. If not I know of a beautiful 1500 that has been babied for sale :D
