So, what's the next step for the KLR? Glad you guys made it home safely. We got out of FT. Worth Friday morning and had clear weather all the way home on I-20 and up 85.

Car got better mileage this time with the trailer on than it did when I went to Washington state without the trailer.  I think it was the 60 mph tail wind we had all the way from Tucson to Baton Rouge.

Anyway, the owner DantesDame in New Jersey is supposed to come down in a week or so with her husband and ride it home to NJ with him following her in the car.

At least that is what I think is going on.

People like these things.  Was getting groceries before hitting the house tonight on the way home and guys coming out of the store who have one were all over it.   "Is that an 02, I have an 02 and it looks just like it."  I thought 02 was oxygen. :?

Warming up tomorrow, gonna ride Hiway 11 along the mountains.

Rudy, let us know their route home, we'll buy them a cup of coffee if they come this way going north.

The KLR was the least of the hassles but it was a good run all around.

Really liked getting back to AZ in the springtime and seeing my youngest brother and the work he is doing in the mountains down there.

I'll post a few pix later in this thread. Gotta go unpack now.

PS... we really enjoyed meeting geezerglider.  One of the highlights of the trip.  I appreciate you making the effort to ride out and meet us Frank.  You are one of the good ones.   Wish we lived closer.

Hey Rick, the meeting was my pleasure, and I thank YOU for taking time out of your long trip to stop.  I saw on the Weather Channel this morning that the snow followed you home.  Please keep it over there. :smiler:

Whoa! I wasn't getting updates of replies on this forum! Nice to know that you and the KLR are back safe. Sounds like it was quite a ride!

Yes, you have it correct: as mentioned previously, Dan and I will be coming by this Friday (April 2nd) to pick up the KLR. I'll send you a note to work out times to meet you. We have a nice return planned, with visiting one of my sisters in Tennessee that night and the other sister in Ohio the next night.

Thanks again for bringing the KLR east for me - maybe you'll end up getting one of your own some day :cheeky1:

Hadn't gotten that far :)   The plan is to be in Franklin around dinner time, so nothing too circuitous, unfortunately.  That being said, any suggestions? :walker:

Best way for you is I-75 N to I-24 W. Rudy doesn't live that far off I-75 north of Atlanta.

Um, ok. I just figured that if I was that close to the land of Dragons and Snakes that there might be an interesting road or two "along the way" :action:

Well, you can still come up this way and hit the Dragon but be aware that I-40 west of Asheville, NC is still blocked by the rock slide they're cleaning up and you have to detour up I-26 to I-81 south to get to Knoxville on the other side of the mountains. So, from the Dragon it would be best to continue on up into Tenn from there and avoid I-26 altogether.

Yeah, I've seen the reports of the slide on the Dragon. Besides, I've already been there :smiler:  I was thinking something a little closer - like 2 up through Blue Ridge and then 64 to Cleveland. Are those decent roads?

I'm not looking for too much fun - I'm sure I'll be beat by the drive down to get the bike. But I'd rather ride twice as far on back roads than on an Interstate (slight exaggeration)  I'm sure you know what I'm talking about

Thanks for the suggestion!

Franklin is a good way to go if you want to take in some BRP routing. Weather will make a big factor there. I can probably get you headed in that direction on non-highway roads.

Otherwise 411 is a good compromise in making distance on less than freeway roads along the Tennessee foothills with the option to head up into the mountains if desired.
