Check the switch in the clutch lever housing.

Have you checked the cruise filter. I had been having trouble setting mine, had to push out the brake lever or at times pull up with my toe on the brake pedal. Changed my filter and the thing works right every time these days.

More than likely the front brake lever switches. Try to push out on the lever and see if the light comes on. There are two switches and sometimes just cleaning will work. Good luck!

The filter should be under the left side cover right on the back of the cruise control box.

I bet its your clutch lever microswitch. The clutch lever gets play in it after being pulled hundreds if not thousands of times and does'nt return all the way out tripping the microswitch which activates the cruise control. If that little switch is not tripped by the clutch lever when the clutch lever is in its resting position (out) the cruise won't work. Its the same as if you'd pulled the clutch lever which kicks out the cruise control.
