This weekend I celebrate two years sobriety so I bought myself a present today. The present is this lift on sale and with coupon it cost 55 dollars. In the morning my buddy is coming over and we will replace the timing belts I have it ready to remove the cover. This last week I changed the oil, plugs, and air filter and fuel filter. Drained the antifreeze tonight removed everything in front of the cover. Its ready I am a little nervous about doing it myself so he is coming to help me. He is in the process of restoring a camero from the frame up build own engine so we should be in good shape with the instructions I pulled from this site. Two years ago I didn't have a motorcycle because of my drinking. Since then I bought two gold wings a 1200 and a 1999 1500. Sold the 1200 last year and love my 1500. Just wanted to say thanks to all of you for helping me get back into riding and for all the help and kind things I have read the last couple of years. YOU ALL HELP KEEP ME SOBER. GOD BLESS

Just remember when it's all said and done YOUR decision to leave the bottle was the most important step you took. All the support and encouragement in the world means nothing without that decision. So give yourself a big "attaboy". Congrats on your second anniversary.

Sure you'll be fine with the timing belts too. Ride safe, ride hard, ride long!!

glad to your celebrating the good way.

I too lived for the drink for many years, after numerous stints in the joint

I finally got tired of the places me and my devilish friend went too.

Today I'm happy with who I am, some might not understand that,

but when you live life hating it, it is a wondrous thing this life.

As said by others, continued success with your freedom from the bottle:thumbsup:

Ride Safe, Ray:byebye:

Timing belts are in cover back on just have to put everything else back together. Next venture will be new front tire and look over speed cable see why its not working and the radio stays and one level of sound. I have the instructions on what to look for thanks to this site and its members.

I dont wanna bring this joyious occasiuon to a hault but we all have our addictions .You left one that was obviously bad for your health and traded it in for one which is equally draining to your wallet but overall better for your health and spirit.
LIve well ride safe and please let all know of your accomplishments.
None of my buisness if you still attend meetings but if you do, pictures of your new love may entice others to follow.
See you on the road my friend
Jose

Congrats on your anniversary! I know it can be difficult at times, but this road we now travel is far better than the one we were on. To he** in a handbasket comes to mind. Glad it's in my rear view mirror. Sounds like you're enjoying going through your wing and getting prepped for another riding season. Enjoy and ride safe!

:applause:

Elvis
Congratulations on reaching two years! Keep up the good work. Once I kicked my best friend (the bottle)out, I found that I had so many friends I didn't have time to grieve:)
Shameless plug....For those of you that walk the path less traveled (sobriety) Midwest Motorcycle Alcoholics Anonymous Convention (mmaac.org) is a celebration of sobriety for those of us that ride. It's a three day campout conference with circuit speakers, dances, rides, alcathon, pig roast fun and fellowship. If you can try to join us this June in Pearl City Illinois:)

Midwest Motorcycle Alcoholics Anonymous Convention (mmaac.org)just looked it up. I have many new friends now int the program that I ride with maybe you will see us there will let you know if coming. Only 13 hours ride from here. Back to my post. today I put the plugs in her filled her up with antifreeze from honda boy 28 dollars for four quarts but you all say stick with honda for the antifreeze so I listened and did. Fired her up and let warm up till the fans kicked on wanted to see if they spun never heard them last year and was wondering if they worked. Glad they do. Letting her cool down now gonna recheck plugs for 109 in pounds torque and button her mid section up and move to the front wheel for tire replace and speed cable repair will follow up with more later

Congrats on your sobriety. It has been since Christmas for my wife and I... she had a problem, and well... I am not worse off by not drinking either :)

It is nice to have more money for reloading, motorcycle stereo's, etc...
