The young son of a good friend of my family hit a deer last evening and is in CCU in critical condition in Little Rock.  He has serious head trauma and is hanging on by a thread.  Please pray for him and his family.  He's only 26 and just got married a few weeks ago.

He rides a VTX 1800 and had cleaned it up and decided to take it for a short spin.  It was around 8 p.m. or so.  His new wife was on board.  From all indications, he was going 35-40 and t-boned a deer (his father told me he had deer blood and guts all over him).  His wife has facial injuries, road rash and other non-life threateneing injuries, but was able to be released to be with her husband.  Beside the head trauma, he has pelvic, rib, and lung damage along with severe road rash.  Neither were wearing helmets.

Very sad indeed...

Thanks y'all.

Prayers sent......

and we all need to ask ourselves why this young man and his wife were not wearing helmets. All of us who preach "the freedom of choice," and I'm one of them even though I always wear a helmet, need to ask ourselves: is it worth it...is it really worth it, that freedom of choice? And sometimes I don't think so....

God's blessings in the midst of this tragedy to the friends, family, and especially the life of this young man. God will provide a way, it may not be the easy way, but God will provide a way . . .

Will most definately include your friends son and wife in our prayers this evening. I have kids and try to put myself in their parents place, and his wifes place. Lets pray for a full recovery on this one.

Our prayers go out to him and his family.
I read this and got chills and goose bumps as 2 years ago going 60 on a back country road where I live, I just missed a deer on my bike. So close I swear my mirror fogged up from his breath. I know how scared that made me and how bad it could have been.
So lets all hope for a positive outcome.

It is not politics for me, it's a matter of personal ethics.... I will no longer champion an individual's freedom of choice re helmets...... I would be/am a hypocrite doing that. I believe helmets save lives, and that every rider should be required to wear one....there, I've said it. And it's not politics, it's just a matter of personal conscience.
