Hi guys
My Dad has a 1976 gl1000 with only 14k on the clock. It also has a sidecar. It was last used on the road in 1983 and has been dry stored since then and coated in grease (metal bits) to prevent it from rusting. It hasnt been started for a long time but we towed it to a lock up recently and it braked and rode fine. I have no idea what the side car is...? I know its rounded and has classic mini hinges on the front to allow access. It has some different wheels on it and citroen tyres (square edge).
We are looking at selling it on to an enthusiast? Could anyone who is interested please get in touch or anyone with advice on how much its worth please advise? Many thanks
Its situated in Preston Lancs

Howdee, Im in Preston Lancashire United Kingdom. Here is the only photo I have of it for now. As you can see it needs a good clean but its in very good condition. My Dad said the wheels are quite rare.

I just bought a 76 from a barn thet had been parked for the last 7 years. It has 21k on the clock. Condition is average to above average. It needs all brakes rebuilt, Carbs rebuilt, new Battery, Cam belts changed, a pesky cam shaft oil leak fixed and lots of TLC. The Cost was $600 US. 5-600 seems to be about the average for a non running but complete GL1000 with clear paperwork here on the East Coast.
I have no idea on value of a hack outfit.
With your's being parked since 83 the tires are not safe, the timing belts are not safe and the brakes even though they seem to work are very questionable. Then you have to adress running issues. Most likely a complete Carb overhaul, New battery, a good engine flush, full tune up, wiring issues, etc. etc.
So my Guess even with the hack would be $1,000.00 tops. That is US money here on the East coast.

The hack is probably worth 2500.-3500 if you have the top to it. I would change the tires as well the bike was a good year.Congrats on th find

| The sidecar is either a Watsonian Monaco with the trunk lid missing or the Palma without the rear rap arround window. I have a Monaco and once had a Palma. My Watsonian was made in 1977 and is mounted on an 82 GL1100. Doug in AZ. USA.

almost looks like 78-9 comstar on the front, but it may have been an aftermarket wheel.... do you happen to know the tire size.... looks like a car tire... there were some front and rear conversions available. The watsonian cars in the usa were most likely sold by doug bingham at side stryder in SoCal, but they were made over on your side of the pond. do you happen to know the front tire size?
unfortuantly used sidecars do hold their value well... it is such a small market that they are hard to sell.... usually they only go for 1/2 or less then new, and it doesn't help that it is very old

Hi DaveGL1000,
May I ask for information about the back tire? What size it is and if it is on a Comstar rim, too? Looking for that DarkWing look on my ride.
Thanks

Not a Comstar. Looks more like a Lester wheel. Should have 7 spokes.

Here is a local advertisement, to you anyway. As you can see it is much like your own one. In the past we used mainly Avon Sidecar Triple Duty MK II or SM tires because of their flat profile as the were great for sidecar use. You don't need a rounded profile with a sidecar. What you need is as much tire on the road as possible.
You could put an add in with the Federation of sidecar clubs below. I know that you will have some interest there as they have an enthusiastic following in Britain. Surprisingly, sidecar outfits can be difficult to sell, but yours is a vintage one and this may help you sell it quicker. Alternatively you could split them.
