Y'all cut that out!

I just do what I can, when I can, with what I've got at the time. I'm pretty sure most members here do the same, and "we" may or may not know about it.

Finished! Actually my bike was already almost perfectly in sync even tho it's been around 8000 miles since the last sync.  I went through the motions just to have done it and get a bit of experience- and almost got it back as good as it was before I started:cool:.  Having all 4 gauges sure makes it easy.  I'll get these out to the next member after I hear back from Bagmaster.

Give me a day or 2 to recover. I've got another member to add to the list also.

What a great program! I'll definitely get on the list when it warms up a bit here.
I haven't waded through the first post- does the gauge set come with instructions? Y'all don't expect me to know what I'm doing, do ya??? : )

Hey, just pick a warm day and ride over to my house and we'll do your bike here. No need to wait. Rock Hill isn't all that far from me, about 1 1/2 hr ride through the country.

No, we don't expect everyone to know what they're doing with these. That's why Wingnut and I are working on a step by step tutorial with pics as soon as I can get the pics done. I'm waiting for my brother to tell me he's finally got his carbs cleaned well enough to idle. Right now he's had the carbs off 3 times for cleaning and he still can't get the left side carbs to get fuel at idle. He's supposed to pull them again today as he keeps missing something somewhere in the cleaning process. If he doesn't get them running soon I'll need to use some one elses bike to do the pics with. Wanna volunteer?

BTY folks, the rubber tubing that comes with these gauges is a little under-sized and is hard to slide over the fittings. If anyone that has them wants to donate some slightly larger tubing that's easier to work with then go for it.

Heck yeah! That sounds like a great idea, and I'd love the ride! When you wanna do this? I'm (unfortunately) available any time, any day as long as it's not freezing, lol.
Maybe you can help me find the slow leak in my rear tire! :D

Pick any day that's gonna be over 50 degrees and pm for my phone number the night before. And yes, I have a sure fire way to find a slow leak on a tire!

I'm on full disability and therefore don't work so plenty of free time for anything I want to do.

it's easy to get to my house, just take 5 to York and from there you can take 5 on over to York, then 29 to Gaffney, then 18 south to Jonesville or from York take 211 south to Sharon and over to 18 south to Jonesville. Once in Jonesville take 176 west toward Saprtanburg, go 2 miles from the Mini-Mart to the mobile home park on the right just past the cell phone tower.

Mike, have him check and blow out the tube that runs between the plenum halves.  If fuel isn't getting to the left bank, odds are that path is blocked.

Hey, Mike, thanks for the suggestion. I'm waiting on the carb rebuild book from Randakk's site to arrive. Until then I've convinced my brother to wait for it and then we'll both go over the carbs. He didn't know that both jets are removable on the 82 and 83's. now he does. He also didn't know about the small screen that has to be cleaned either.

He's in too big a hurry to get the motor running right when he has all winter to work on it. Unlike me, he has a full heated basement shop to work in, I have to work in a small crowded, unheated storage building and have to wait on a halfway warm day to work on my bike.

The left side carbs aren't getting fuel at idle but do get some when you crack the throttle. The right side pipes get hot, the left sides just get barely warm.

I got my carbs all synched today after having a problem on the first attempt.  During the first try, I had problems getting one of the carbs adjusted to match the number 4.

One of the guages on the set was not calibrated to the others.  I PM'ed Bagmaster and he told me how to adjust the guage.  I readjusted the carbs and now the bike idles smooth as silk and pulls great through the gears.

I will ship the set out to the next person after Bagmaster makes the arrangements.

Waiting on reply from 53jim.  Actually 53jim lives close enough to me I can take a set over to his house and help him sync his carbs, so they may next go to ringo00.

Who is waiting?:

The guages have been shipped to Ringo00.  I added a spare set of orings for the adapters and dropped a set of balancing instructions in the box.

Thanks for the update. Wingnut is also using pics I sent him to write a tutorial for the site that everyone can access.

Bagmaster,
I've seen the gauges on Ebay for a bit over $50.  Where do you get the adapters?  After seeing how easy it was to do this, I'd like to get my own set.

Scott
