hey guys, i have just rebuilt my carbs and finally got her running. she idles but a lil rough, would i be right in thinking that syncing my carbs would smooth out the idle? if so then i would be interested in the loan set but im not sure i have been a member that long yet :( and my posts are a few short so i guess if this is my problem then i will be heading for ebay!

thanks guys, Ali

Yes, your time as a member here isn't quite where it needs to be. The sets we use for this program sell on Ebay a lot of times for around 60 bucks.

Rule change for shipping. Rule 5 is being added on all tools in the program to this.

5. Amended: Pay shipping forward to the next person you ship the tool to. No more paying shipping back to the one that sent it to you and paying cost to ship it forward. This way no one but me loses out on shipping costs. You pay it one time and one time only.

That makes the process much easier.  Since I was the last one to send the guages out, I paid shipping for both directions and will be the last one to do so.  I'm certainly willing to take the small hit for shipping the guages to Ringo00.  My bike runs much better and shipping costs were much less than purchasing guages.

Can someone post a picture of the gage setup? I work with gages for a living, I'm a calibration technician. May have spare parts here and there.

Here's the adjuster for the carbs.

http://www.jcwhitney.com/MOTION-PRO-CARBURETOR-ADJUSTING-TOOL/GP_2004174_N_111+1982+200008236+600014236_10111.jcw

Here's the guages.

http://www.jcwhitney.com/CARBURETOR-SYNCHRONIZER-KIT/GP_2004169_N_111+1982+200008236+600014236_10111.jcw

Here's the slow air adjuster tool.

http://www.jcwhitney.com/MOTION-PRO-FUEL-AIR-MIXTURE-ADJUSTING-TOOL/GP_2004175_N_111+1982+200008236+600014236_10111.jcw

These 3 tools are mostly needed for the carb model bikes with the slow air adjuster being the most expensive and least used.

Heck, just order them right from J C Whitney. They're as cheap as anyone. I don't order any tools from Honda, don't need their over-priced toys.

Are there instructions provided on the actual synchronizing once you get the tools?

On the 1100's as well as the 1200's, carbs are setup as No.1(rigt side front), No.3 (right side rear), No.2 (left side front), No.4 (left side rear).  As seating on the bike facing forward.

Carb No.3 is the base line carb all the others are adjusted to, it has no adjustment screw to mess with.

1. Using adjustment screw between No.3 and No.1 adjust No.1 to match No.3.
2. On the left side use the adjustment screw between the 2 carbs to match No. 2 to No.4.
3. Using the adjustment screw at the rear of No.4, match the left side carbs to the right side carbs.

Keep in mine that the idle may go up some during adjustment and you may have to adjust it a couple of times during the procedure. Keep the idle between 900-1000.

All of the above is based on you already knowing and having the sync gauges already connected to the system and the engine at normal operating temp.

Have to add a note on this. On the 1200's, carb #4 is the base carb for syncing.

Bagmaster,

Add me to the list of folks waiting on the guage set.  I need to balance the carbs on my 1500.

After checking gauge prices on ebay, I will purchase a set, so don't add me to the list as requested.  Thanks anyway.

As long as they haven't been shipped to you yet, then no problem. If you receive them anyways then you'll be responsible for shipping them to the next person.
