Just take the stator to a motor rewind place and get fixed there. Cheeper then getting another one.

Are you sure you need them? if you have not already done it the connector in front of the battery with the 3 yellow wires may be burned up. The best repair is to cut out the connector and solder the wires together, insulate them with double heat shrink tubing.
If you do need the parts I have them.

i had a guy come out and put a tester to the bike and he said it was like .02 and it should be like 12 or 13 volt so i am sure i need a new one at least i hope so before i tear all this apart and the worst part is i dont know the first thing about doing this job hehehehe

:smiler: As Eddy said you'd be better off to have it rewound than chance a used one. That's a lot of work to have doubts. Rewind the stator and maybe ifnd a good used regulator . :)

blake4413o,

Where did the guy test that read .02 and what unit of measure was he looking at.

The battery itself should be about 12V to 13V. The output from the stator is 40 to 50 volts AC.

I'd sure be checking the yellow wires and the connector near the battery. Also check the same three wires in the connector near the regulator rectifier. If one of the connections for these wires the output will be greatly reduced. If two are bad there won't be any output. The connector is behind the battery cover, in front of the battery.

Also, a bad battery will make it look like it is not charging.

http://www.goldwingfacts.com/forums/forum1/79.html tells how to check the stator.

blake44130,
It sounds like the guy did a voltage drop test. If that was the reading on the wires only then the connectors maybe the problem. You want wires or cables to test at .00 volt loss. Get more information from the guy that tested your bike. Resistance testing can be very iffy. It is better to do voltage drop testing, but fewer people know how to do it right. Both + and - should be checked. I also agree that a rebuild is better than used parts....Boppa
