Remember convolution in the time domain is equivalent to multiplication in the Fourier (frequency) domain.

So now calculate the convolution from part (a) by taking the FFT of both vectors (using the fft function),

multiplying the FFTs (using .*), and inverse transforming back to the time domain (using the ifft

function). You may need to take the real part of the inverse transform since very small numerical errors

will accumulate in MATLAB during the FFT and IFFT process. How does your result compare with part

(a)? That is correct as usual we have proof that black is always faster than red. :cooler:

Cyote61's calculations are correct.  I've ran his computations, and it confirms this.  So from now on, all references to the fastest color will be changed from red to black.  Redwing will have to change his name, and his neighbor will have to either buy a new bike, or repaint it, or learn to live with a slower color.:whip::whip::whip::whip::whip:

Cyote - your math is flawless but your logic is in error. You forgot to factor in Doppler Shift Phenomena in the visible light spectrum which is incurred at hypervelocites in the Northern Hemisphere. Ever heard of the Northern Lights? Which leads us to the inescapable conclusion that GREEN is the fastest color. hahahahah!!! QDaddy wins again! Now Cyote will probably spray paint my scooter at the Calhoun Rally. (:

Black absorbs the energy of all other colors so there for contains the energy of all other colors. In fact black is both the complilation of all colors and the abscence of all light. Einstien proved that nothing is faster then light but black is the abscence of light and so it is the nothing that is faster then light. After all what procedes the light when the the switch is thrown, why it is darkness that flees before light can appear. Black rules so :P
