:Dtoday i was visited by my mate on his new Triumph Rocket 111 , what a bike, when it came to me, if Honda were to make  a modern version of the original GL, lets say a  bike like the 70s original, only maybe a 2.5 ltre semi auto, with lots of chrome and  two tone metallic paint, not like churning out 1800sin bland  colours, my HONDA youve lost the edge, get with your adverts, its time to make a truly futuristic bike way beyond the competitors:clapper:;)

They already did it in 1997 with the Valkyrie and again in 2004 with the RUNE ,both bikes are streets ahead of the triumph ,:)

The Rocket will fry you with engine heat. No just my opinion alone but every other owner I've talked with.

The rocket is Triumphs usual poor build quality, and in my opinion a butt ugly beast, as is the Rune, but the Valk is buillt to a standard way above the Triumph or even Wings, just a shame they discontinued making them because they couldn't build that quality at that price. In my opinion they satisfied the wishes of the public for a naked Wing.

:Di dont agree with you at all on this one Pete, i think that a naked honda , banged up to date with a large motor in it, and good paint job would be a instant hit, and may be attract customers from Harley and Triumph, iam sure the valk boys and girls would love to see a more modern version of the valk , i know  i would consider one;)

I thought that was what I more or less said PP, or at least in not so many words.!!!:baffled::baffled::baffled::doh::goofygrin:

Sorry to offend Iraqi Ram, each to their own I guess, the Rune is certainly a work of art, but not to my particular taste. :bowing:

Anyway, just to clarify, I would like to see a version of the Valk introduced, on the same lines as the origional, but with a bigger engine if you like PP!!:waving::waving:

I'd trade my Wing for a rune in a heartbeat. Of course my Wing is down again. It's not the Wing's fault. I just can't afford parts for her right now. I'll have it running again by Monday evening I think. Eventually I'll jus tbuy the new parts she needs and not have this trouble all the time.

:goofygrin:No offense taken at all on this side. I was just messing around with the :fighting:.

Rhune grows on you after a while, just need to look at it long enough to appreciate it.  Or ride one.  It's a nice smooth bike with crazy power.  But that's just my opinion .  peace.

My brother inlaw just got a rune, awesome power, super smooth, put a cruiser it aint. I rekon it has a 50 mile seat if that. You could call it a work of art on wheels, but it's an around town bike. if a function of a cruiser is to carry the rider long distance, the rune doesn't fit.

I would like some of that heat, Perhaps i will change my 1800 comfort for a rocket 111, winter bike as the rune doesn't appeal to me, as i would not be able to smile or wave at other bikers especially wing riders :dude:

Had a dream a couple of nights ago.......

seems I had taken a naked 1100 Wing, and dressed it up like an adventure tourer....

kind of like an old school GS.......  raised fenders, knobbies, hard welded racks, removeable aluminum boxes, flat black paint.......

a two-up bike to go anywhere......

like to Norway's Nordcap, or even the Himilayas.........

why not?

Bored one night, (apparently January 3, 2006), I bastardized Randakk's endurance special in Photoshop to create this:   I think it was around the time when I was watching the Long Way Round series.
