Why not add a compartment lights as standard on all GOLDWINGs as standard equipment.
on 2008 model why not have the 4 buttons under the display be eluminated like the rest of the instrument cluster.example The map,display,trip, these are not back lighted. I think that an inexpensive led light should do the trick..

Optx sells led light strips that are extremely flat and very easy to install. My trunk has a mercury switch out of an old thermostat that turns the light on and off as I open or close my trunk. I have (3) 12" strips inside the trunk and it works very well! Much cheaper than using honda's trunk light and I have much more light available.

I use a "trouble lite" out of an old ford pickup truck. It's under the pass. side of hood. It's 12v DC, has 20 feet of wire on a small reel, so you can see around the entire bike, and you simply reel it back up into its case. I mounted it in the trikes lower trunk.Jim
