Big Bri wrote: Thanks Andy, I'll try it again once I get home.  If I hit it twice does it re-lock?  What if the actual key lock on the outside of the trunk is in the locked position?  Will the levers still work?  If it doesn't work, I'll post a picture of my 14-pin connector.  It does look different then the one Steve posted as it should since the bikes have different options and are different model years.

Thanks again for the quick response!

If the key is in the locked postition it won't matter, the lever will operate once you tip the wires and hear the click.

Welcome to the forum. :waving:

Bad news!  I still can't get in to my trunk and it is going to be in the low 70s the next few days.

I have a couple of pictures that I need to post, but they exceed the size limit.  I will send them to Steve and see if he can post them on this thread for me.

Once again the blue wire is the only one that gives me an audible click, but the trunk levers are still in the locked position and the trunk will not open.

I have a blank spare and an unregistered/unprogrammed remote(FOB) for the bike.  Does anyone know if I can get the key cut here in the US with the VIN or frame number of the bike?

Can I register/program the new remote (FOB) without the key to turn the ignition on?  There is a light pale green wire on the 14-pin connector that makes the bike starting sequence and radio come on as long as I keep the probe connected to it.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!  I'll see if I can get my pictures posted ASAP.

Here's the picture of the trunk lock.  Note the position.  Could this be the reason why the levers will not open the trunk even though I get the audible click?

And finally, here's a picture of the connector location under the seat.  You can also see the tester probe I'm using in the picture.

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

I just wanted to stop back and thank you for this thread. A GW rider I work with locked his keys/remote in his trunk and had no way of getting them out. 30 seconds of Google searching got me to this thread and it took me about 5 minutes to get the trunk open going thru the harness.

Thanks!

I've always carried a spare key on my house keyring, in my pants pocket. So far, I haven't needed it on my bike, but I have used it a couple of times for my truck! Especially when I leave the key in the ignition while filling up with gas at the station. I'm in such a habit of locking the door when I exit, that it has become automatic.

Steve, thank you for being there in a most embarrasing moment. I was a yankee deep in rebel country leading a run as the road captain and locked my keys and remote in the trunk. The plug under the saddle worked great. Thank god for cell phones with internet access.

I hate to admit it, but like rkri1cue I left my keys in the trunk on a 9 Wing rideout last month, right outside a steakhouse. One of the guys remembered reading this article here and he went inside and used their pay as you surf internet to come here and get the information we needed.

That internet machine was not cheap at something like a buck a minute, but it was the best 5 bucks I spent in a long time. Thanks for all this.

Here is a much easier way to unlock trunk. A stiff wire about 9" long with small hook on top works fine. Just feed it up between release levers under trunk & hook rod near key opening. Pull down slightly & trunk will open. I keep one of these wires hidden on bike just in case. No need to remove seat or take any other tupperware loose.

Thanks kwikwing, but that doesn't always work. More times than not the rod pulls out of the retaining clip. Nice when it does work though.
