Lil Pete wrote: If you put it into gear first, the bike won't roll around with you as you are putting it down and up.Yeah, I forgot! I even forgot to hold the front brake until I had it almost all of the way up. A bungee on the front brake works nice, too. I was a bit in a hurry as there were storms approaching (even worse the next evening when I swapped them back - just made it back inside by seconds!) BTW, if you have things that stick out (highway pegs, etc.) you should remove or adjust the right side ones to prevent the bike rolling onto them and causing damage. I've yet to need the pegs, so my engine guards are still clear.

Awesome video, thanks for posting. Just one more plus for the single-sided swingarm.

I hate to be critical of this since it is a good how to but that is the wrong way to use a torque wrench. You do not snap it quickly like that, pull it slow and steady until it clicks. Put the bike in reverse before you lay it down and the wheel will not move. You can break them loose, torque them and stand the bike up without it rolling.

I loosened the nuts with it since it gives such a nice long moment arm, and then torqued with my new wrench once I had it back in the garage (and the rain was coming down!) The wife or daughter hold the brake for me to torque. I know that this can be done with the bike in gear, but with a brake holder assistant you can spin the wheel for easier access - and it makes them feel useful!

This is great, I have heard this technique from an old Harley bager rider. Can come in handy if you need to do a repair on the road. I don't have a bike lift with a drop. I have pulled the rear tire on my GL1100 this way: Park the bike on dirt. Place a board under the center stand. Get a shovel and dig out under the rear tire. You will need to go down about 12 inches and a trench out behind the fender. Once the tire is on just fill in the hole. Yes it works, no I won't do a video. Now I just take the bike to a shop.
