sometimes the software that you view the pics with will allow you at  adjust the size of it.   You might open it up in MS paint and then save it.  I have done that to reduce the quality of the pic.  then could up load it.

The guys that build their own manifolds haven't said anything about that. Couldn't be any worse than any other manifold tha 'might' have a leak. Or one of those rubber pieces break down and leak on the original manifolds/

But then again, popping through the ol' Pearly Gates in a big ball of fire shouting "Man! What a rush!!" sounds like the way to go, doesn't it?

well, it wouldn't rate up there with death due to romping by 3 coeds, but beats the hell out of choking on popcorn in front of the tv
I'ld be willing to bet my way would never make '1001 ways to die'.
Your way on the other hand....

i like to think of it as the 'lottery win' way of checking out

Next time I try building my own intake,I'll get help that is closer to home or learn to weld. I have to cut a piece out of the frame to clear the fuel line, but all in all things are looking like fire in the hold this weekend, probably rain again. My intake looks a little like the one badorderbob has, with few mods to it. wish me luck

Hi Stdawg1,  do you have the CI manifold? I had to cut a small piece out of the frame to allow for the fuel lines on the right side bottom rail? This has been this way since last summer without any problem, I am in the process of filling the tubing and coating it with either paint or sealant to prevent rust. This procedure of cutting a small piece out of the frame still gives ample strenght, this has been done on other conversions. It's not what I wanted to do but was the only way to fit the 32/36 Weber/Holly carb, you can take the frame piece turn it backwards)Inside out) and wield it back in, not lossing any strenght if your worried about that,.....I'm still considering that!! Later,..Bob;):waving:

The CCProducts Water-jacketed intake must sit lower. I did not have to do anything to my frame to get it to fit.

It wasn't my chose either but I cut just a tad out mostly because I had to use about a 3/8 adaptor for the carb to fit. My friend Raymond had to do the same on his bike but had the Carb turned backwards but worked OK,.... I didn't like to do it either but,......:?it was the only way to make it fit!:lash: Jigg's 4 barrel conversion He cut the bottom rails completely out and road his bikes that way. I perfer a little more strength on the frame. I have to get back on the conversion after I redo my rear differential (used the wrong grease:sadguy:)!!  At least I did get to ride her for a little bit:cheesygrin:!! Later;):waving:Bob    Cap85 What's the progress with yours, you've been awful quite? Is the PVC working out or have you taken another route?

I need to cut a small piece of the right lower rail,I don't think it will change the strength either, the Wing frame is built like a tank. The Weber 32dfta has a idle cut-off solenoid and a EVAP solenoid,cut-off will be hooked up to hot Evap won't...When you put the right grease in the rearend put some LUCUS gear lube in to,get it at the local truckstop,WORKS GREAT!

After 10 years of sitting under a tree in the Arizona desert,I fought bugs, snakes and weeds to get her. The 1980 GL1100 breaths again! The intake works and the Weber needs to be rejetted or I need to adjust it some more. After all that time sitting she smokes like hell, there only 22,495 showing on the speedo,it's the original.I may put electric fuel pump on,cause I don't think original is any good. So folks this old girl is alive!!! thanks to this website I didn't give up on her...Charlie G.

I just wanted to get her on her feet again, I used the GL1100 to mock up the intake for my 1000,went what the hell and put a battery on it and hit the starter button. Man what a rush to hear she lite off, alot of smoke, but she runs!!!!!  I'll get pics as soon as I figure out how to put them on here.

Hey Folks,

Been lurking for a while here and just installed one of Ld's manifolds on my 78. Bike starts and runs great up to about 5000 rpm. 85mph in 5th gear. When the stock carbs were working right she would go over 100. My timing is correct, have dyna ignition.fuel is good with a new filter. I am wondering if a larger jet would help the high end perfomance. I do have a set of new coils and wires but have not installed yet.
Looking for some advice from you carb guru's.

Thank You,

Rob

These set-ups were tested by Randall W. and indicated on his GL 1000 he had to increase the timing because these conversions where tested/made using a Gl1100 with vacum advance. You might use this as a reference ,......   http://archive.gwrra.org/board/messages/16683/24793.html?995922056,...........             :waving: Bob

Yooperwing, I'm in the beginning stage of my mods, made my intake and used a Weber 32DFTA..took it for a ride around the block with NO brakes, seat, lights, and fenders. OH what fun..kids thought it was neat.

make up some kinda pad for a seat, plumb the brakes and bleed them, run a wire to a light on the rear for brakes one to the rear for tailights, one to the front for low beam on the headlight. Remember what the hand signals are for turning and lane changing and go for it.

You really don't need anything else except working tach and speedo (maybe just a speedo) on a wing. The faux tank and side panels are just dress up. Go Ultra Naked!
