Went ahead and mounted ( glued in ) the latch from the GL1800.
Thought it would be easier now before I glass in the trunk section.

Finally, got both inside fender glass without the cormat.
Had to grind down the lip from the spice & used some resin putty to help fill in any low spots.
Lay 1 layer of mat the clothe & finally last layer of mat.
Rolled it all out to remove any bubbles.
2nd picture show the heavy clothe I used, think it's 12oz.
Mat will add thickness & clothe helps to add strength.

2nd picture didn't show up

Ok, got the body lined up & started to glass the trunk section on.
This will at least hold it to remove & glass it all around.
Will drill mounting holes before I remove the body.

Will need to find a better Adhesive!
I tried " PL Premium Polyurethane Construction Adhesive" at about $5.00 a tube.
It didn't harden & when I turned the body over after 5 hours, the latch assy. fell off.
Any idea's on what to use.

Pictures are coming out hazy, don't know why.
Can't change the ISO on it.
Been dropped to much I guess.
Put this in CorelDraw 15 & brighten it up a bit.

Here are a few pictures of the body with tail lights seating on trike.
I think the tail lights were the hardest part of this whole project.
Still need to cut the mounts for the lights off the metal body section.
Thinking I will just glass the metal into to body to hold the lights.
Don't know if I should make a mold of the mounts in case someone may want a body with these lights in them.
Found new tail lights on the web for about $150.00 pair.
Tried to clean pictures up a little in Corel Photo Paint.
Let me know what you think, Good or Bad, need feedback!

Here one in which I sprayed some white gel coat digitally

.

Instead of making a mold of the tail light holder, I carefully cut it out of the corner parts & cleaned it up.

I will keep these safe in care I need them for another body.

skoto1 wrote: can't you just glass the latch in? Thanks, Good idea, since they have angle brackets it would support side to side so it's doable.
I'm not thinking so good with all of the fiber glassing been doing.
Always need ideas. 100 heads are better then mine old one.

OK now MY new 1500 is looking better......:cheeky1::cheeky1::cheeky1::cheeky1:.....OMG what a stretch of the truth...Right now I can't even afford those $150.00 lights much less the completed unit...But I can dream can't I????...We were talking about seals on the out side of the lights and you came up with the idea of making a fiberglass buckets to keep them sealed from road trash.....Great idea...One rubber boot to seal the wires going in and that should take care of that....Rubber seal around the lights themselves might be a booger....If you don't get them sealed really tight you going to get water behind them, then you would have to install a drain hose in that bucket?????..I know I know details all small derails...I do like what I see....

:smiler: Boy, I'm glad someone can see the light.
I only see fiberglass, Resin , mat & white dust all over the whole garage.
Getting tired tiring to clean up & them make more white power.
HEY, maybe I can sell it. Got a couple of pounds laying around.

Started mounting the tail light bucket on one side.
Used only 1 layer of mat & will let it cure.
Then can remove the light assy. & add 2 more layers of glass.
Watch this corner for more glassing work.
Extend trunk area & add mud flips.

looking good , ,i think thats a great idea, to extend the boot, (trunk , for you guys) as it will keep the rain water, from the wheels off the wiring to the lights, and it will add strenth, and boot space, :clapper:

It is heavier then the original, but I can still pick it up by myself.
There a lot more glass in it for strength & changes.
Tail lights are in & mounted.
Getting ready to do the trunk space.
Just put it back on the trike to check for clearance.
Once the trunk is done I get to make more white power grinding down the top of the fender.
The on to the body work!
