Going ahead & start a thread on this build, but won't really be doing it till this winter. This is what I have posted in the old thread. I'm over at SpiderBob (in sunny Calif.) place & was able to get the picture into the laptop.Pictures of the Jag rear end. As you can see, I even got the mufflers. It looks pretty good for a 1977 XJS. Still need to figure out the gearing in it, think maybe it's 3.08:1, not to bad as the bike is 2.93:1 This will be a winter project for the GL1500 SE. Will be pressure washing & maybe de-cage it. Need to finish the GL1500 A Trike for the June Show & start riding. The Collage up in Oak Ridge has Trike Riding course this summer which I may check out.

Made it home after sitting on the I40 for 1 hour due to an accident. came to an exit & took a county rode tour to get around it. Big semi jack knifed. Got home 1 hour late & slept like a log till this AM. Now I have to unload all of the Cross Country Junk Yard Goodies. Truck is a little loaded. The Jag rear end is in there somewhere! There 4 - 3 spoke 16" mags & 4 - 15" wire wheel. Side window weather seal from Villager to use on trike trunk I hope. A collection of rear window hinges ( & handles ) from Fords to use on the trike trunk lid. Will take the beemer to my friend this afternoon.

Drove out to Nashville, about 150 miles, for a Honda Del Sol at Pull-A-Part had it listed but had been there for about a month. Luck was with me & the rear section of the body was there W/O the tail lights. So using my Batt. Saw Off the rear fenders started to come off. Not 15 mins later this guy showed up all upset because he needed the whole rear section for his car. Lucky me again! Plan is to use them on the next Trike body & hopefully make a new rear section of the mold using the front fender section. This way will be able to offer the fiberglass Trike body with or without tail lights. The metal parts cost me about $20.00 & the tail light units came off of eBay for $75.00. They are after market design, but stock lights will also fit. Will be starting a new post on the next Trike build soon. Right now just collecting misc. parts. The bumper was gone so will need to form the bottom section. Will weld all the parts together & body work them. Then make a new mold & one release of the L & R side to mount to Trike body.

Will be starting the GL1500SE (1st red one) to trike with jag rear end. Body will have Honda Del Sol tail lights this time. May be able to make new rear section mold with tail lights. That way could sell the body with or without lights.

Outstanding, so Skip, is this one going to be yours or is it up for grabs. What is the plan with this one for the thread anyway? Winter is just around the corner ya know. Whats first mounting the jag rear end or setting up the front end? I know, to many questions, but my mind is racing.

Next will be buy tires & measure, disassemble jag & shorten axles.

SpiderBob wrote: Well, that should be a cake walk now Nope, will be de-caged, shorten & setup like a street rod (no chrome) The '77 XJS Jag rear end gear ratio is 3.31-1 & the GoldWing is 2.91-1. So using the 15" wire wheels , have figured out will need 195/60 or 215/55 tires which are 27.279" tall Bike tire is 24.148" tall This will bring the rear end down close to the stock GL1500. 16" or 17" rims could use a lower profile tires, but like the True Spokes Wire rims. This is what I came up with using the stock GL1500 tire at 24" tall. You can see that the lower ratio 3.31-1 at 2000-3000 RPM will be going slower, so need a taller tire to speed it up. How much higher will that put your bike as compared to stock, ah, normal ride height. I don't even know what normal is but, if the rear is higher, will that give the bike a tendency to plow?

Found a Honda Del Sol damaged rear bumper here in Knoxville & got it for $10.00. The parts I needed were good, so cut them out & mounted to tail light housing. Need to support the bumper area the fill with form to shape, Will body work the housing then a mold of each to mount on the trikes body. Need to angle the sides in so I can release the molds. mmonsterbuck wrote: how much money for rear end On my trip out to Calif. stopped at Pull-A-Part in Memphis,TN & got the rear-end, pretty easy getting it out. Saw the wire wheels on another Jag, but pasted on them, they are the large Chevy bolt patten 5 - 4.75". Paid $125.00 plus my time to remove the Jag & it was about 14 miles out of my way, round trip. Stopped at a few more junk yards in CA & AZ & picked up a few things. The wire wheel were burning a hole in my head the whole time, so stop in Memphis again on the way back. Got them for $40.00 all four, so went ahead & got them. Think they will look good on the Trike with the Jag rear-end behind them. Next on list is to get 2 tires mounted to rise the rear-end gearing to around a 2.93:1 at about 2000 RPM

Got a pair of front bars off eBay for a 88 GL1500. They looked pretty but were bent all over. A lot of hammering to get them mount. This was just so I could mount a pair of Highway boards Could use good lower fairing as these will need repairs. The corning lights aren't so good ether. PM me if anyone has a set L & R sides
