Christmas 2004.
Christmas again already. This year Goldwing owner Mick Wilson has a brand new suit. Eddie Rockets in Dublin's South Anne Street is the annual venue for Santa Mick's visits, and it's always on the last Sunday before Christmas. That was December 19th this particular year. Robbie Nolan arrived with boxes and bags of goodies strapped to his GL1800 Goldwing for Santa to hand out. Robbie never lets the Goldwing lads and lasses down and every year he carts in a load of selection boxes, bags of sweets and other goodies for the children. As usual, there were no shortage of takers.

In spite of high winds and rain the night before, we were all pleasantly surprised at the welcome sight of the sun that Sunday morning.
Les Cowan carting Santa and his helper elf down South Anne Street.
As usual, Santa does the handouts in the street first. This year, even the helper elf has an assistant helper.
Into the warmth of Eddie's for Santa to distribute the rest of the goodies. The Christmas whip-round for the staff yielded up €220 this year.
A well earned rest for the elves. At almost ten years old, I don't think my Dylan will want to do this next year. The doubts are starting to creep in and the older kids at school are starting to influence the younger ones. But that's the way it is and all we can do is make the most of it while our children are still believers.
