1988 Limited Edition

G'day

I've just bought an '88 GL1500. It has emblems on the top saying it's a "LIMITED EDITION". Is there such a thing or has a previous owner just stuck them on for looks ? It was imported into Australia in 2005. It has a kilometer speedo so I guess it's a Canadian model.

I went to the Honda dealer the other day to get a few parts that needed replacing and he said there is no records on his fisch/catalogue for the '88, '89' and '90 models in Australia. Were all these models "grey imports" into OZ ?

Sorry it took so long for approval, us moderators have to sleep too.

partzilla is a very good place to shop for parts, I like their way of presenting them, and they will ship internationally as they plainly state at the bottom of each page:

Worldwide Shipping

We offer the fastest shipping to 120-plus countries worldwide.

http://www.partzilla.com/parts/searc...A+A/parts.html

that is for your year bike.

this is just one selection that I chose at random, note that they offer a very decent discount from the over the counter retail.

My 89 was a grey import from Japan with a metric speedo. Some of the audio features are deactivated but I got around this with a few add ons. Check it is actually an 88, as the 89 has a 88 build date and the colour and badging on the rear is the only difference I have found. I bought mine as an 88 and it was a pleasant surprise to identify it as an 89. No limited edition badges on mine. Qld compliance date of 2009 shows this as the import year. Here is my original thread on the subject https://www.goldwingfacts.com/forums/...0-88-89-a.html
