Hello from the East coast.

I have been a long time upright sport bike power lover and currently still own a 2015 Ducati Diavel and a 2006 Triumph Daytona 675 Track Bike.

I am now getting a bit older and ever since I had hardware installed in my lower back I can't go 30 minutes on the Diavel wanting to kill someone.

I really just wanted to dip my feet in the water so I found a 1995 Aspencade SE GL1500 for $2300 here locally that has a built in back rest. The bike just needed a little love so I spent $1800 to have the fork seals replaced, carb searching worked out, oil changed, air cleaner changed, new rear rotor, all new brakes, and a new front tire a long with some minor replacements like the front brake light switch.

I went on my first long ride last Saturday and about 85 miles into the ride I heard some clattering and grinding only going downhill in 1st 2nd & 3rd. I then lost 4 the gear but OD was good so I immediately stopped my planned road trip and returned home. I am spending the remainder of my vacation looking for an engine replacement on eBay. Yaaaaay. I really don't want to do it but in my heart I cannot justify losing $3 plus k in 2 weeks.

Hopefully the engine swap won't take more than 80 hours of my life.

The good news is that the bike felt really nice for those couple hundred miles and I will more than likely keep her if the engine swap goes smooth. It was super nice to have a place for everything to go on our trip. Plus my wife, even though she is dinky, is absolutely in love with the passenger seat. So much so I don't think she will want to ride with me on any other bike any time soon.

Hi, your pain is felt by many here. Lots of guys learned to live without 4th gear.

Anyway, keep in mind that another motor may too have the same problem unless you get a '97~'00 model.

We'd like to get your profile updated. I guess that's a real issue with Tapatalk. If you like, I'll update yours for you.
