New to the forum

Hi folks,

My name is Bill and I am new to the forum. I have owned a 1988 GL15 since 1990. It is my first motorcycle and has almost 240K on it now. I bought it will about 14K on it. I have so many great memories of trips and travel with that bike!!!

Earlier this year I took it to a GL "specialist" for work I didn't feel like doing. He ROYALLY dorked up the carbs. I didn't even have carbs on the list!!!! So, getting it back road worthy is something I am SLOWLY getting done. Not taking it to anyone AGAIN!

Now that I also have a 2018 Tour DCT, my big blue is getting less love than it should. But, that's how things go sometimes. Add to that an imminent move and only 1 bike can go, and there you have it. <sniff, sniff>

Going to read a lot of threads on carb fixing. It has been 8 months since I got the bike back and every time I start it I get pissed about how badly the "specialist" dorked the carbs.

Oh well, it'll get running right again.

Welcome Bill.

With no God over the state, the state then becomes not the defender of liberty but the definer of liberty.

Hello and welcome to the forum, glad to have U with us.
When you have the time to work on it, get yourself a factory service manual and a set of carb sync gauges.

Oh I've had the factory manual for 30 years. I sold my Carbtune decades ago when I got rid of my Valk Interstate. Never needed them for the 88 GL. Never had a carb problem...until I let the guy work on my bike. And I did NOT have carbs on the list of things to do. GRRRRRRRR!!!!
