I don't like you

Not really but how many different ways can someone say hello? Ok, about me. I'm not yet 50 but quickly hunting it down. When I was a young warthog (when he was a young wart hoooooog!) I started with a teeny dirtbike, then went to a gl650 then a gl1000. In the past 20 years I've had probably 20 bikes, and there were quite a few before that. But 20ish years ago I decided that I'd own every bike I ever wanted or thought was cool, at least for a little while. I've run the gamut from a nighthawk 250 to a Ducati ST3 in this time, typically buying or trading for a bike in need of love. I'd give it that love, get it on he road, experience it for a while, then move on. I had finally settled on a Buell Ulysses, a buell blast, and a KTM Duke 390 as my keepers, and this presented a problem. I had no project. I had nothing to fix. I switched to doing industrial art, but that's not as time consuming for me. Then out of the blue an uncle calls me and says a variation of 'hey I can't ride anymore, you want my goldwing?' Well, duh. So that's what brings me here. Returning to my secondish bike, I now own (two) GL1200s. T he gave me, one running parts bike I bought to swipe stuff off of. His bike was an 85, which he converted to a single Empi carb, and rode the hell out of for 20 years, then put it in his shed and let it sit for 8 years. I'm currently going through a nearly frame-up restoration on it, with emphasis on making it a good runner rather than a show winner. Yanked the Empi and am going back to stock carbs, plus all the usual fixing one does to an oldwing. I'm documenting the whole thing over on advrider since that's where I usually hang out, and also keeping all the pics at Flickr. Can't post links yet so search Flickr for uncle grr. Hoping to get this thing back on the road in a week or three, then see where it takes me.

Thanks all! Still can't post links or pics, but I got the wing running with the rebuilt carbs today, very happy with how it's going.
