New here. 92 gl1500se

Decided to join this site due to acquiring a 92 gl1500se. Has the transmision rattle. The fourth gear issues. I have disassembled it and already got the parts. I am curious if anyone can answer this question. Will the pistons from a 97 valkyrie be usable. I have checked part numbers and the part numbers for the pistons are different. The rings, rods, crankshaft are all the same part numbers. I am freshening up this engine. Kinda cheaply. i found a good deal on valkyrie pistons rings and rods from an engine with less than 5000. The engine i tore apart though looks pretty good for 97,000 miles though. Still see the crosshatch in most places with slight glazing on a couple cylinders. So the idea is to do a cylinder honing and use the pistons and rings from the Valkyrie. Any advice is welcome. like advice on what sealant to use when reassembling the case.

Welcome. My guess is that the valkyrie pistons are higher compression, might cause the need to use higher octane.

With no God over the state, the state then becomes not the defender of liberty but the definer of liberty.
