The ‘82 is a great bike, pulls my sidecar rig like a freight train!
A couple things to look at.
Under the left side cover, there is a wire connector slightly forward of the battery. Three yellow wires in, three yellow out. If that connector is scorched or melted, plan to cut the connector out and solder the wires together. If the connector is not there, then someone has already performed this fix.
If your brake lines are the original rubber lines, plan to change them to braided stainless. This change is probably the most cost-effective improvement you can make to your braking performance.
Hard starting when hot? There is a discussion in the technical section of this forum about replacing your original coils with Dodge Neon coils.
Again, congrats on the new-to-you dream bike!

What?? SELL a bike??
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lots of things. You've been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. Its having the right attitudes that's hard.
