I realize that it may be a bit early but I have a question about the Motel/Venue for NASSIR 6. Will the events be centralized at the Best Western Motel similar to what was so expertly done at NASSIR 5 or will we be going "off site" to a different location(s)?

The reason I ask is that it may make a difference as to where I want to hang my hat for the night (at the center of the event or at a different location).

Also, any word on camping yet?

The events should be centralized at the Best Western, however, I don't know if will be as expertly done as NASSIR 5. There is a large grass area at the back of the hotel where we can hang out, and I am trying to get some awnings arrangred to be set up. There is a possibility of having a group meal offsite somewhere but I am still working on that.

I am still working on camping but I believe the best choice would be the Norfolk Conservation Area. I just haven't had time to go to the park and talk to anyone yet.

I have blocked rooms at the Best Western and the Travelodge and they will be held until 6 weeks prior to the event. At that time they will still be available to us at the rates, but the rooms can also be booked by the public, first come, first served.

Could you also look around for places close by that may be far cheaper?
$100 a night is going to knock out a ton of people I'm sure from being able to attend. I may be one of those also.

Most likely end up camping unless something is around close for maybe $50-$60? Preferably a double which could be split maybe.

Chromo .... you just are not going to find a motel room at those prices in Canada!.

Heck ... just for a Primitive campsite (no hook ups/electric)in anOntario Provincial Park, you are looking at over $40/night.

Without getting into an economics course Canada is larger geographically than the USA but with about a tenth of the population to cover the rent. In many areas the winter is lost income so summer is when the bills get paid. Add to that our added social safety nets and I figure travel in Canada is about 50% higher than the USA for similar accommodations.

I don't see a big difference in fast food prices but sit down restaurants chains tend to be pricier unless you know where to find the little independents. I've had $50 steak dinners and $10 steak dinners. Both fed me but I got to enjoy chewing the $10steak for a lot longer.

Would I be right in assuming that those rates are quoted in Canadian $ rather than American ones?

Oh and another silly question, a "Double Queen Room".... is that a room with two beds the size of an aircraft carrier flight deck in it, so able to accommodate 4 people if necessary?

Pete

Pete, you are correct on both. Although right now the US and Canadian dollar are just about even.

Then I would have thought that four grown ups could share a Double Queen if they are reasonably friendly.
