NASSIR 7 - Special Information for Early Arrivers

If you plan on ariving at Fontana a day or two early for NASSIR 7, here are some of the special events already on the resorts schedule. I'm thinking that my wife and I may be taking the Sunset Cruise on the Lake if we get all of our NASSIR 7 chours done!

Friday, July 4th
10:30 am Relay and Field Games. Join us by the volleyball court for relays, dizzy bats races, and parachute activities.
11:30 pm Cornhole Competition. Join us at the Game Room for some traditional family fun.
1:30 pm Pool Games and Lazy River Relays. Join other guests at the Stone Creek Pool and Lazy River for a variety of
pool games and races.
2:00 pm Beach Volleyball. Join us at the volleyball court beside the Stone Creek Pool. All ages welcome.
2:00 pm Scenic Lake Tour. What better way to enjoy Fontana Lake than with a pontoon boat ride on Miss Hazel. Lasts 1
hour, cost is $15 for adult, $7.50 for 12 and under and kids under 5 ride free. Call ahead and meet at the Marina shortly
before 2pm.
3:00 pm Watermelon Eating Contest. Join us on the breezeway behind the Wildwood grill for some friendly
Independence Day fun.
4:00 pm Patriotic Face Painting and Colorful Hairspray, Meet at the Outdoor Programs Building to get your face
painted with patriotic symbols. We will also be doing colorful hair spraying, and Sidewalk chalk.
4:00 pm - 10:00 pm Fontana Foundation Independence Day tents. The Fontana Foundation is a non-profit
organization dedicated to preserving mountain culture, and will be conducting a fundraiser for the restoration of the
Gunter Cabin. Be sure to visit their tents for sno-cones, funnel cakes, sparklers and pop-it’s, glo-sticks, and more!!
4:00 pm - 9:00 pm Chef Williams’ Independence Day Cookout. Join us near the Putt-putt Pavilion, across from the
Wildwood Grill, for an American (and Fontana) Tradition.
6:00 pm Patriotic Village Parade. Grab a chair and enjoy the sites as Fontana Village employees put on their 4th of July
parade.
6:00 pm - 8:30 pm. Live Band Fastgear. Join us on the Wildwood Grill as this local band from Robbinsville plays on the
stage out front. They play country music and a medley of Rock n’ Roll.
7:30 pm - 8:45 pm Fontana Lake Sunset Cruise. Call ahead to reserve a spot at the Marina and meet before 7:30pm at
the Marina to go on this tour of Fontana Lake at sunset to see some beautiful panoramas of the Smoky Mountains. Cost is
$20 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under.
9:00 pm - 11:30 pm Live Band ‘The Chillbillies’. They will be live in the Recreation Hall. Listen to this premier group
for a variety of music from country to soft rock and Bluegrass. They will be performing before and after the Fireworks
display.
10:00 pm Fontana’s Independence Day Fireworks Celebration. The best fireworks in the Great Smoky Mountains
area. Don’t miss the show!!!

Saturday, July 5th
11:30 pm Ladder Ball and Cornhole. Join us at the Game Room for some traditional family fun.
1:00 pm Disc Golf Lessons. Learn the techniques for throwing discs on the disc golf course. Beginners welcome.
Equipment is provided or you can bring your own. Meet at hole #1 at the intersection below the Lodge.
2:00 pm Scenic Lake Tour. What better way to enjoy Fontana Lake than with a pontoon boat ride on Miss Hazel. Lasts 1
hour, cost is $15 for adult, $7.50 for 12 and under and kids under 5 ride free. Call ahead and meet at the Marina shortly
before 2pm.
3:00 pm Fontana Historical Video Learn about the history of Fontana area while watching, “Construction of Fontana
Dam”. This 25 minute documentary was filmed in the 1940s. Meet in the Outdoor Programs
building behind the Wildwood Grill.
4:00 pm Pac-Man Tournament. Meet at the Game Room to face off against other guests for bragging rights in this 1981
arcade game.
6:00 pm Movie: “Frozen” Join us in the Outdoor Programs Building for this wildly popular film. Runtime is 1 hour & 48
Minutes.
7:30 pm - 8:45 pm Fontana Lake Sunset Cruise. Call ahead to reserve a spot at the Marina and meet before 7:30pm at
the Marina to go on this tour of Fontana Lake at sunset to see some beautiful panoramas of the Smoky Mountains. Cost is
$20 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under.
7:00 pm - 10:00 pm Live Band: Old Red Schoolhouse: Be sure to tune in to this Classic Country band featuring Steve
Weams to hear selections from Merle to Waylon. They will be performing live on the Wildwood Grill Sundeck from 7pm
- 10pm.
8:30 pm Campfire and Marshmallow Roast. Meet at the Gunter Log Cabin fire pit for stories of the day's adventures
while you sit around a relaxing fire. Marshmallows and roasters will be provided.
10:00 pm Ultimate Frisbee Game. Join us out on the village green for a competitive game of Ultimate. All ages and
experience levels welcome.

Sunday, July 6th
10:30 am Non-denominational church service at Fontana Community Church.

off your talents to the village. Piano, dance floor, I-pod hookup, and microphones are available.
9:00 pm Karaoke Night. Stay in the Rec. Hall after the Talent Show to showcase your talents with other guests.
