Still have my old squirrel gun, my Ruger 10/22 carbine with variable scoop... Still shoots well and is fun and economical to shoot...

It was pointed out to me that the cylinders were machined out to accept the 45 long colt . Apparently the long colt cartridge has a larger head on it? This was all done long before my time when my dad had the gun. I didn't even realize it until after he passed and I was left the gun and I had it at the range and someone there pointed it out to me. And by the way, I have my calibers screwed up again,, It is a 455 Webley that was converted to 45 long colt. I got out of shooting for almost 30 years due to work and no place to shoot and now that I am retired I am getting back into it. You can tell I am more than a bit rusty at it and the old wheel guns were never my forte. I am a long range shooter. Long range trained by dad at a very early age and right into sniper school in the military once they saw my rifle scores.

Now that makes sense.

I don't have many weapons. I have a Remington Nylon 12 I got for Christmas when I was 12, a JC Higgins 22 semi-auto pistol my Mom ordered from Sears in the early 60's for my Dad's birthday, a Ruger 9MM P89, a Makarov 380, a Ruger Single Six 22, a Mossberg 20 ga pump, a pre-64 Model 70 30-06, and a Winchester 94 30-30. I do some target shooting and deer and rabbit hunting. I don't have a CC, but have considered it.

If the pistol is in deed a Webley, I don't believe the .45 Colt will fit, as it's a much longer cartridge. Many of the old MK V and VI's were machined to accept the .45ACP with a half moon clip, but even the .45acp operates at nearly 200 psi higher pressure than the old .455 lead round.

A steady diet of the newer round won't do you or the revolver any good. Might be a good idea to have a reliable gunsmith take a look at it.

I believe he has a S&W, not a Webley so it should be fine with factory rounds which are loaded pretty mild for old revolvers.
I have a S&W model 625 in 45 long colt. It is a special edition, only 1500 were made and I paid a dear price for it 25 or so years ago.

Here's 2 of my favorite handguns. Ruger super blackhawk 44 mag and S&W model 25 45 LC. Just ordered a new scope for the blackhawk.

Ok, I took some pictures of it so you guys can decide. You will have to excuse the condition of the finish of the gun since it was dads home defense gun and spent most of it's life under a bed or in a closet. I will probably reblue it soon. Can't really ruin the value considering what it looks like now. You can see in the cylinder where it was machined for the long colt round and you can see the long Colt next to the 45 ACP.

I am a paper shooter. No real interest in hunting but do like to shoot! Carry a Springfield XDs in 45acp in the truck with me, also have a 1911 with a few modifications. Picked up a Sig Sauer P250 sub-compact last year in 9mm & got the to make it a full size. In long guns I have an AR 223 (home built), a Savage Axis in 308 & a Savage Model in 223 all lefty. My others are a Ruger 10/22 & my pride & joy a Springfield M1A.
