These days the writers are all gunning for a movie deal. The day of the novelist is gone.

But the movie is usually only "based" on the book. Some of them show very little resemblance to the book. A few exceptions, the green mile was word for word & the movies from Tom Clancy's books are pretty close.

True, but if the customer doesn't care, why should the author be bothered with facts? The screen writer will probably change those facts to suit the mood anyway. Even if it's a biography.
