I originally posted about the neutral light coming on in 4th and 5th gears at any given time while riding. Well I have searched high and low on trying to fix this but with no luck. The one thingI noticed is that the symptoms seem a bit different than what's going on with the 1000's, my light when it comes on is as brightas if it was in neutral. It doesn't get brighter or dimmer.Could the wiring be chaffed inside the front cover? Also I love reading in this forum and get such great information from it. And I did post a picture of my baby in the gallery it's naked though I have all the bags off.

Sounds like a faulty neutral switch.

Wouldn't it come on all the time instead of randomly? Just wondering.

Neutral switches can fail in different ways. It sounds like yours is definitely faulty.

Thanks for the picture it will give me a starting point. What manual is that out of? All I have is a Clymers and can't find anything on that switch. Also will the switch off an 82 1100 fit my 80?

The Honda manual from Helm Inc. has much the same picture and info. It would help if you'd put your model and year in your signature line so we'd know exactly what bike you have. There a lot of differences even in one model such as the 1100. For instance there's two different locations of the neutral switch depending on which year of 1100.

Still learning the ins and outs of this board. I have an 1980 1100. I will get that in my signature line though thanks.
