I went to 2 paint stores today to check on availibility of paint for my 79 gl1000

1979 Candy Grandeur Blue Special PB102CS I guess thats a Honda number.

Can anyone come up with a number or formula in either Dupont or PPG

so I can get the correct paint? Any info appreciated.

Thats all the info I have been able to obtain so far.

I noticed that they only go back to 1986. Also they used the term Topcoat for the color and no Basecoat. Does this mean that it is a straight color and not a topcoat/clearcoat paint?

No matter how blue it may get, there is always a rainbow in the sky.
Blue is not the fastest color, but it is the prettiest.

Try these guys.
I think they can give codes back earlier than they show on the site if you contact them.

Thanks Rudy. I havn't looked at that site yet but I will. The site that no9z posted was good but I had to use 86 A to get the color I think was mine. One of our members told that the color on mine was prob. Satelite blue it appears this color is too light. Right now the color that does fit, I can't rememberthe name but when I'm more awake ( Just getting ready for bed ) I"ll check it out more thoroughly.

The Inset color for the 86 is Satellite Blue but the Main color is Pearl Marlin Blue.

I am guessing they did not use base/clear on the bikes in the 70's.
