I'm currently in the market for a new starter for my 1975 GL1000, and i can get a good deal on a new one but i'm not sure if it will fit my year (i'm pretty sure it will but need to be sure).

These are the specs for the one i can get.

HONDA GL1000 GOLD WING 1976-79

HONDA 31200-371-005, 31200-371-505

I don't know much about interchangability but i'm pretty sure it should work on my bike.

Any help would be much appretiated.

i am not dead sure ---but the only differance that i can think of --now this is honda starter only---is a slight differance in the over all leight of the starter--but it will mount up.--like i said not ---dead sure. maybe someone else will jump in and either conferim or tell me i am all wet.

Is this a new Honda starter or a Chinese knockoff? I'd steer clear of any of the cheap $129 starters on ebay.

I'd much rather find a good used original and rebuild it. Much higher quality and it'll last lots longer.
