This has driven me crazy. With a fully charged battery and running the engine for about 30 minutes, it dies. Tested voltage going to battery and only register 12v as oppose to the 13.5-15.0v the manual calls for. Broke open the alternator and brushes were marginal. Cleaned alternator and replaced brushes. Still same result. Checked wire harness for continuity. All okay. This may seem like a stupid question, but I notice that when I hit a bad bump (i.e., railroad track) the bike shuts off. Turn key off and back on it starts which sounds like bank angle indicator. Could these two issues be related? Certainly would appreciate any help you fine folks can offer. Thanks in advance. P.S. The shutoff problem probably is the BAS as you suspect. I don't think the two problems are related. You should call your VIN into any Honda repair department and let them verify if the warranty factory recall on the BAS was done. If not, get that taken care of.

Check all connections between the alt and the batt visually, not just electrically.
Also make sure the dog bone main fuse is not cracked by removing it from the holder and see if it falls apart.

Seems to ms that your alternator is going west, if you are not putting enough charge back into your battery. How old is your battery? double check the wires to the brushes and the connections. Good luck if not get a Compufire .

Even a crappy ignition switch will shut down the charging system. If you wiggle the key, does your voltage fluctuate?

If ya cant fix it with a hammer, it's prolly lectrical

Sounds like something is loose, run it and move sit around like H man says , and other stuff, like simulate the track bump, get it
