Hello Everyone,

I considering a HID headlamp conversion and changing my other bulbs to LED'S on my GL1200I. Does anyone have any advise to offer me. My purpose is to gain better lighting performance with saving power. Thanks for the comments.

Can't help you with the HID, but try this site for your LED needs

http://www.superbrightleds.com

For your trunk brake lights and rear saddlebag brakelights, I would suggest finding some tower LED bulbs. I got mine off ebay a while back. The ones I got have 32 LED's per bulb.

i run HID Xenon on my interstate 1200. i in the process of going for a mechanical bi-xenon. right now running low beam xenon/high beam halogen. the bulb is the same size as stock.
mechanical xenon will give you high and low beam but the bulb has a solenoid in the back that needs some clearance.

I run this system in my '80

http://www.xenonlink.com/product_inf...roducts_id=115

Wouldn't trade it for the world. In fact, I haven't bothered with the high beam since I put it in. I just set it high, then rode country highways at night, rolling the adjuster down 1/4 turn until people stopped flashing their high beams at me.

I see someone else already pointed you at Superbright.

I'm glad to see that Snorebaby has converted to LEDs, as I'm trying to do to my 1984 GL1200. I found the LEDs I want to replace all my incandescent light bulbs (other than the headlight) on SuperBrightLEDs.com. My concern is, with the LEDs, due to lower amperage of the LEDs, do the turn signals and emergency flashers work without changing the controllers? SuperBrightLEDs.com offers two different motorcycle controllers, but I don't know if they are required. If they are, I don't know which is the appropriate controller.

In addition to replacement of the incandescent bulbs, I am adding LED front running lights, LED sidelights on the saddlebags and a 3rd brake light on the trunk.

If the added lights employed incandescent bulbs, I fear the power required may exceed that capacity of the original stator, thus the change to all LEDs.

What was your experience?

i just installed a mechanical hi/low xenon bulb on my 1200 a couple of weeks ago. it works amazing, better than having only low beam. go for it, newer bulbs are smaller and fit the room behind the headlamp with no problems.

I've got 90% of my lites replaced with LED'S, mostly used individual LED's with wires attached from www.dav-electronics.com. I didn't bother with the signals since they are not on steady. For the clearance lites I drilled holes in the light housing & inserted the led's with diffrent numbers & patterns. I've also added am emergency flashing rear system with approx 50 red led's from Walmart. Works fine.
