Does anyone make a differentring gear ratio that will lower the RPMs at highway speeds

I wouldn't be a bit concerned about the rpm. It's quite happy at that rpm. It's a short stroke engine. If you do that, then everything else is affected, like starting out in first. (clutch burden) It has the power to start out in 4th, but at what cost to the clutch. Not to mention upsetting many other parameters, like the speedo, cruise, emissions, etc. Of course, the speedo would be way off, since the speedo signal is taken off the output shaft. The bike works perfect the way it is, in spite of "ugly headlights" I love the sound of it at 70-80.

I always felt (even on the 1500) that there should be a 6th gear. With the amount of grunt the 1800 engine has, imagine the gas mileage improvement.

SL100 1974-1976 9,000mi
CB175 1975-1976 100mi
CL350 1975-1980 20,000mi
CB550K 1978-1982 20,000mi
GL1000 1988-1993 2,500 (got the 1500, never looked back
GL1500 1989-1997 50,000mi
