I've got some, but they may need way too much work done on them.

Sorry for being vague. Bike has 13,000 original miles but had not been ridden for a while. Last spring the guy started riding it again and it ran great for a while and then suddenly started running poorly. He had it checked out and was told the carbs needed to be rebuilt. He opted to do the work himself with an after market kit. He says it didn't run better after he messed with it and thats where I come in. The floats are sticking and fuel is pouring out. He says he did some research and found that the kit he bought was obviously cheap and believes that is the problem. With regard to the rest of the bike the belts are tight, compression is good, no cylinder miss that I can tell. I can tell that the bowls are obviously overflowing and that there are float issue as well as jet problems probably. As this is my first GL and I have never worked on this kind of carb before I was looking for help. What is a good rebuild kit, and is there anything of note that I should be aware of. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. I want to get it on the road ASAP and enjoy it. I am located in the San Francisco bay area.
Thank you again everyone.

also check out http://www.nakedgoldwings.com lots of good "olde-wing" advice.... if you pay to rebuild them count on spending about $400-450

it is doable, doing it yourself, but you must take the time to do it right, float bowl adjustment is REALLY important, sounds like the PO screwed that up

John

You have basically 3 options

Send your carbs to a well known rebuilder (Pistol Pete is the guy I recommend) and have them come back 100% for around $365 http://www.oldwings.com/services.html

Purchase Randakks kit and video and do them yourself for under $165. Theprocess is not terribly hard but does require a Lot of attention to detail and a long day to accomplish. http://www.randakks.com/Master%20Price%20Catalog.htm#10

Buy a unknown set from someone and risk throwing awayhundred of dollars (possibly several times before you get a good set).
