I just got my 80 GL1100 back on the road but the rear shocks leak air. I think I may have a lead on an inexpensive set of 1986 (I think) GL1200 shocks.

Would these fit my 1100?

Thanks in advance!

Yes they will fit but you have to change the bushes at both ends, also the ride height may increase a few MM.

As a follow-up question, how much better are the progressive shocks that the stock ones?

Trying to decide if I should shell out the extra cash for the progressives over a used pair of stock shocks.

Thanks again!

I just went with a good used set of Progressive shocks I found locally for 150 bucks plus the Progressive fork springs. I'll never switch back to stock, that's for sure.

The stock shocks on the 1100's are 12.5 inch from eyebolt to eyebolt centers. The Progressive shocks are 13 inches, why Progressive does them that way I don't know but that's what's called for on their fitment page for the 1100's.
