Recently I posted about a growling noise from my triked GL1200 Interstate, it was only noticable at 2000 rev's, well now it's gone. The problem was the Balance mechans'm shaft next to the stator, sometimes called the alternator balance mechanis'm which has now been replaced and the noise sorted, so, all is quiet on the Western front.

Thank you to all who helped with suggestions as to what it could be.

Thanks for letting us know.

I didn't know there was a balance mechanism on the 1200 stator. Got me curious now.

If you remove the stator and split the engine case, the shaft that everything slides onto is the balance mechanism.
