I know this has been asked before but I can't seem to locate any direct answers here.

I just bought some Honda headsets for our helmets and even with no engine running, whenI turn on the CBor intercom or both,I get a hissing in the headset speakers.

If listening to the FMradio/stereo, I don't get any hissing.

I know there is filters in place but wonder if there is any better than what is there. They look home made..



Anyone able to help me here?

Just a thought, remove the windsock from the mic and cover the mic solid; see if the hissing goes away.

No difference doing that...Wichita Scorpion.

Hopefully I was clear on what happens, even with no engine running in thegarage, as soon as the CB or intercom is turned on, it starts the hissing. I haven't even turned on the engine yet. I hopethis doesn't introduce any more issues.

There is a definite hissing in the system. just standing there beside the bike!

I wonder if there is a ground loop back like in the GL1800 systems..

I know that the filters are in place on the alternator filter and the driver leads under the left fairing pocket. not sure aobut the passenger as of yet to remove he seat to check.

What you are hearing is amplifier output noise.
The intercom and the CB each have their own amplifiers and they are low quality mono amps as compared to the higher quality stereo audio amp for the FM and music system.

You won't be filtering it without adding your own low pass filter to each system, internally. And if you did you would lose clarity.

With only Intercom and/or CB on, my mics pick up sound, like air noise,but not a bother when riding.
My 1989 GL 1500 has four inline capacitors:
Two on the back of the Alternator
One on the fuel pump connection under the seat
One under the rear seat, about center of the bike, at the edge of the trunk.
I'm not sure they would take care of the hissing with the engine stopped, maybe. Someone may have better suggestions.

Thanks for the information Rudy. This is the first time I have used the 1500 system and was wondering if there was an issue but withyour response, I will give it a try to see how we make out with it and go from there.

Well a quik ride to work proved what Rudy has suggested.

The hiss is not noticable when riding.
