Is it only me or does anyone else think that when you stop somewhere on your bike to get gas or coffee and then get back on it and it dosen't start is the worst most embarrasing thing?

Well, it just happened twice to me. Once I had to push start in and the secnd time i had to wait for it to cool and it started right up.

The problem is that it wont crank. Once no noise at all and then it sounds like a dead battery where the 2 solinoids are clicking away. Problem is that the battery is definety good. It does the same thing when I have jumper cables on the battery. Now if I let it sit to cool it cranks like crazy. It has gotten to the point the if I start it in the garage for 5 minutes it wont crank anymore til it cools again. I have checked everything that I can but am now going to saw the bike in half....OK OK.....Does anyone have any ideas to help me out?

Sounds like you need to rebuild the starter.

When it\'s over your head it\'s under GOD\'S feet.

Starter would be my WAG too.

The starter will crank when I jump both solinoids with 2 scwerdrivers, so I pretty much discarded the idea of the starter being bad.

I'd check for voltage drops. And double check the grounds.

That pretty much says "solenoid".

Remove long engine bolt and clean ground. Go to NAPA ask for lawn mower solenoids. They have 2 different ones. I picked one of them, it worked fine, about $10. Ford solenoid will work fine but it is too big.

I have to stop buying dead old Wings...

ignition switch for $8, solenoid for $10, fuel pump for $30 still work fine!

I have changed the "A" solenoid and no difference. I don't think the engine ground matters because the starter has its own ground going to the "B" solenoid. It seems like voltage drop problems to me also but I have loosened cleaned and tightened everything I could find. Some of the nightmare diagnosing this system is that it goes through a crap load of relays because of the reverse setup. I'm still trying keep the suggestions rolling in. Thanks to all.

OK, I have more info. If you have ever looked at your starter system wireing it is truely a nightmare. It is combined with all of the reverse relays and starter relay regulators and on and on. Has anyone had a problem with any of the electrical reverse components?
