Hi all, GL1100 Does anyone know what the thing is that is in front of the right rear motor mount on the engine case, shaped oval window with black something inside, maybe some type of gauge to show adjustment?

I hope that you don't mean the site glass that you use to see how much oil is in the engine.

If it ain\'t broke, work on it and it will be!

About the size of a quarter, and really, it's round, not oval....

The black thing is the wiper that you turn with a screwdriver. the oil level with the bike on the center stand should be up near the top of this sight glass. If you have to much oil in the engine you will not realy see much. If you look at the glass with a flashlight when the bike is on the side stand the oil level will be much lower.

The site glass on the 1983 is sorta oval IIRC, the earliers are definitely round.

Edit: I had it reversed, sorry 'bout that.

Put a flat blade screwdriver in the slot, and spin it around a few times.... There's a small wiper blade inside the glass.

An no, Anco doesn't sell refills for the wiper...
