Welcome to the forum.About all you can do with the stator out of the engine is check it for continuity between the windings and look it over for obvious burn or scorch marks where the insulating laquer has broken down/degraded...

Hey Rutymitch..welcome!

You can download a copy of the factory shop manual in the ref/faq section ( i belive thats where it is!...lol)...the Clymer/Haynes are OK, but there are a few oopsies in those books.

rustymich-Not to be picky, but it is much easier to read posts when punctuation and capital letters are used.

Keep riding, it keeps you young.

Yeah,

My thoughts exactly. Can a guy get a break? Not everybody is a touch-typist. Most of us are"3P" method typists... that's Pick, Peck, and Pray!

Sorry about that. Don't run off on us now. Most times around here folks don't pick on a newbie quite that much. Rather, most offer lots of great advice andhelp.

I wouldn't tackle any of the more complicated tasks on my GL1200A without service manuals for guidance. So do like others here have suggested and download a manual for your bike from this site.

Good luck with it,and welcome to the forum.
