I just got a set of these and am debating on installing the stops they ship with. I know they're supposed to keep them from rotating too far and keep the optimum angle, but I don't want to have more stuff sticking out from the mirror if I can help it. Also looks like it digs into the paint.

Who else has these and did you use the stops? Are they really necessary?

BK, I'm not sure what you are describing. The Baker hand wings on my 1800 mount with an extension to the single screw under the mirror. They will turn about 270 degreesbefore they hit the fairing on one side or the other. The tension of the screw can be adjusted to determine how much pressure it takes to turn them and keep them from swinging in the wind.

The ones I got shipped with additional stops you can install on the mirrors to keep them from rotating too far rearwards. Is this something new, perhaps?

I would install without them unless they are needed to maintain proper tension.

Guys - thanks for the answers.
RBH - not sure the mount is the same on the 1500 and 1800. The 1800 screws into an existing mounting bracket for the mirrors. It might help other folks if you post your pics anyway.
JJ - Thanks, I was leaning that way, you just pushed me over the edge!
