After a long trip to Michigan I noticed one of my high beams was out. So I went to Honda and they wanted $20 for one bulb. The parts guy was nice enough to tell me that any H4 bulb would work. So I went to Auto Zone and bought a set for $20. But the wing tabs were the wrong size. So I took them back and finished my trip with one high beam. I put a pair of leftover used bulbs in and the tabs were also incorrect sizes. With some snips, they fit fine. Ebay sells the pr for $10 new shipped. You probably can go with the Sylvania for $10 each and just snip the two tabs at the top. The spring will probably keep them in fine.

Been a long time, but I don't recall having to modify anything when I bought a set of Sylvania Superstar bulbs for my '94 1500.

I did buy the ones marked "for motorcycle use" though.

I believe Honda hosed up the 97-2000 where you needed an adapter ring to use H4 but the years before fit fine.

Cyclemax carries the adapter rings.
They are reusable.

So close Rudy, 98 to 2000 used proprietary bulbs which need the adaptor rings to use standard H4.

ok. no wonder I thought my old bulbs should fit. They came out of earlier 1500 wings. This 99 SE must be one of those that got 'hosed'.

I bought a set of the adapters on EBAY, only to find out that the H-4 fit right in. I have never used the adapters, and if anyone is interested, let me know

So will I have to have the adapters for my 2000 or can Isize the tabs to fit.

It\'s not what you buy, it\'s what you build.

You will probably want to get the adapters. If you size the bulb to fit, that will work until you are on the road when a bulb needs to be replaced. At least with the adapters, a standard H4 will fit with no mod's to the bulb.
