hi, when changing exhaust down pipes how do you remove old copper gaskets,cos mine look like they are welded in there. or can you just pop new ones over old? any help would be appreciated

Stick a screw driver up in there and pry them out! Don't leave in there.

They do tend to stick in there -- I use a bit of PB blaster (which I'm forced to clean-up later) and a right-angled pick. For me it's not a fun job, but I'm not there often.

Buddy of mine uses a sharmened screwdriver (like a small chisel) and gives the rings a good whack (directly into the ring straigt up from the ground, if you will) -- his thought is to create a weak spot in the ring so there can be an 'end" to pull on...
