What he said ^^ Nice work.

leaving the tiny holes open (as you did) allows that sensor to be emmersed in fuel -- I've had some guys get a little "liberal" with the solder on the bottom of the can and wonder why their lamp stays on.

If you've got access to a little PTFE insulation tubing (stripped from a wire even) you can sleeve the "hot" side connection so that there's even less chance for a short or spark...
