Ok,
I sent away from ebay for a new solenoid.

that claim was that it fits all gl1100.
Got it and it came with a different arrangement ...
It has the colored type fuse but that isn't the concern........
My concern is that the plug from the ignition switch is arranged differantly and that the four slits don't line up with the correct four prongs.
should I be worried about this?

I had to stare at the picture for a minute before I seen the new solenoid. The picture is fuzzy, but the green solenoid connector looks just smaller.
The worst you can do is blow a fuse if the connections are wrong, and it looks like you will have to connect it up manually with spade connectors, or shave a bit off one of the connectors.

The ones I see on ebay usually come with a set of short wires so you "jumper" it to the right place.

If you can't afford to do it right the first time,
You sure can't afford to do it the second time.
