I had been having problems with my cruise control engaging. The Indicator light was always on, but itwould only engage occasionally. It seemed to work well for a short time and then would not work at all for the remainder of the ride. The other day I went for a ride with a friend and took the lead. With in the mile he pointed out that my brake light appeared to be on all the time. Sure enough the switch on the foot pedal was sticking. A shot of WD-40 to the switch and problem solved.

Growing younger one lane at a time on my Gold Wing!

Good fix!

Imagine that, a cruise control that was obeying the command to disengage

That is a very common problem. Now you know.

After a couple hundred thousand plus miles, cleaning that switch once a year or so, every time the cruise control told me it was sticking...I decided it was time to deal with the problem and bought a brand new switch.

Within a year, the new switch was sticking.

Why ain't we ridin'?

Check it before your next ride. This is a serious safety issue.
