Austone update, red grease on GL1500 splines update

With around 8600 miles on the Austone, here is an update:
The pics show tread wear (I think there is some anyway). Also is a pic of where I ran the zip-tie for fender clearance. Turns out I have a small rub hole in the other side, so I plan to run a zip-tie on that side, too. Hole is not bad so no biggie.
Also pictured (maybe in a reply due to pic size. Who knows yet) are pictures of the driven flange. Bike has 97.6k on it and all I have used since 15k is red grease, greased annually. I also showed a pic of the grease I use. I am NOT saying y'all should not buy Honda moly grease! I am simply showing the results of my decision to use this lube. No visible spline wear.

OK. Having problems getting the pics here. It says jpg files can be up to 2.86 file size, and my largest is 2.64. Grr.. Got it figured out- I have to dowload one-at-a-time.
Pics are B&W infrared, but I lowered pic quality a bit due to file sizes.

I AM saying that you should not use Moly 60 Paste on the driven flange gears.
Use the red stuff.
The ONLY place the moly 60 should be used is on the splines where simple sliding occurs in the splines as the rear wheel moves up and down. The Moly 60 won't stay on gear teeth faces if they are cogging as they rotate. They will wipe dry very quickly and you will be running gear teeth dry.

Every time I try to upload them, I get a windows internet connection problem window, though there is NO internet issue. Any thoughts?

I'm thinking that maybe the pictures are to large to post. Have you tried doing a right click (Windows XP or 7) on the picture and selecting Send To.....Mail Recipient. It then asks you if you want to resize the photo, either bigger or smaller. Select a smaller size and then save those smaller photos in another location. You could also just send the email that is produced to yourself and then save those to a location.

Thanks for the update rpeters.I have always used a good quality wheel bearing grease on everything in my shop that needs grease very simialr to Valveoline. It's Lube-ri-plate/Grey grease. Some people think if its not moly60 the whole thing will fall apart.LOL Most all of that stuff is nothing but marketing.I race 8000rpm engines and we don't fall for a lot of that stuff. 20 dollar oil x8,200 dollar air filters.....lol

Anyway, the Austone looks like new yet,and i see you pulled your fender UP.I pulled mine forward and haven't had a mark on the inside yet.Either way, you are giving some valuable info to other posters! Happy trails buddy.

Hmm- maybe I will swap the zip tie to more forward and see what happens. I got it all apart anyway, so nothing to lose.
At least I had a good time pulling the driveshaft out and cleaning it. Other than what looked like a little goo (condensation over the years with a little oil/grease I would guess) it looks great in there. And to think, my co-workers' eyes get huge when they remember I have more miles on the Wing than they do on their car.

Thanks for the pics. My Austone is showing very little, if any, wear after 12K miles! I've been caught in a few downpours and the traction in the rain is amazing.
