Poorboy Conversion

Has anyone used the:


NEW CHEVY MINI ALTERNATOR DENSO STREET ROD RACE 1-WIRE!

No cutting back brace and a single wire seem like positives to this novice.

I think that was probably the one I used when I changed mine out from the Mitsubishi alternator. It was slightly smaller in diameter, but just the same length. It also puts out 60 amps, but required more RPM to self excite and start charging. I changed the alt. pulley from 2" to 1/12" and that took care of it.

I've read some about the one wire alternators, there are some drawbacks to using them. I wouldn't choose one just because of the one wire simplicity. The other alternator type is simple enough to wire, one wire to the solenoid, one wire from alternator plug to regulator/rectifier plug and one ground wire to alternator body.
